
John F. Pantone
Mr. Pantone focuses on capital formation and acquisitions. Prior to joining ALR, Mr. Pantone was Managing Director of Buchanan Street Partners' Chicago office responsible for identifying, structuring and underwriting joint venture investments for Buchanan’s discretionary equity funds. Investors in these funds included institutional investors and public pension plans. Mr. Pantone began his career in 1985 at Coopers & Lybrand in the Chicago office and he was part of the audit and emerging business start-up teams.
In 1987, Mr. Pantone joined Heller Real Estate Financial Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Fuji Bank until Heller went public in 1998. While at Heller, Mr. Pantone held a number of origination positions in the Washington DC and Chicago offices responsible for new participating debt and structured investments, and also served a two-year stint in asset management during the 1990-1992 down-turn in commercial real estate where his responsibility included the work-out and disposition of a $200 million portfolio. At Heller, Mr. Pantone originated, underwrote, and closed approximately 75 transactions through-out the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast.
Mr. Pantone was Managing Director and co-founder of AEG Real Estate Advisors from 2001 through 2004. As a partner, Mr. Pantone was responsible for developing the strategy and revenue base for AEG Real Estate alongside parent AEG Partners, a management consulting firm. Mr. Pantone’s accomplishments included the development of a successful investment venture with Buchanan Street Partners which resulted in attractive 30% + returns.
In 2005, Mr. Pantone started the Chicago office for Buchanan Street Partners, recruited the Midwest team, and sourced, underwrote, and closed 13 transactions (totaling 29 properties) representing approximately $450 million in core plus and value-add multi-family, office, industrial, hospitality and retail assets. Mr. Pantone was promoted to Managing Director in 2008.
John earned his B.S. in Accounting with a minor in Business Administration from Illinois State University, is a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the Urban Land Institute.
